Mobile banking application
Application overview
Thai credit bank is an enterprise mobile banking application called “alpha” alpha provides all the convenience to users to transfer, collect and provide all the convenience for users.
My role
Thai credit bank used to be a retail bank and recently just converted to an enterprise bank. When I first joined the team it was newly formed, only 3 people in the team including me. I was leading the alpha product as well as the business logic. We spent the first 8 months shifting all the design from Adobe XD to Figma and it is still an ongoing process. While we have to keep up with the fast pace development, the product team needs to make sure we got all the feature development done.
One of the main roles other than designing is to manage and collaborate with the business team to align with the design to make sure they synced.
Goal for designing a mobile application
At the start of 2018, I worked on a redesign of Streams using Material Design in preparation to scale the product to new markets. My team did an audit of the existing UI to see what to replace with a pre-existing Material component, and what new components we needed to build ourselves to deliver the full experience. We extended Material design with a handful of custom components and patterns, which I will share below.
Our Thai credit bank recently just became a public bank,we used to be a retail bank which focus on loaning for SMEs business. After we became a public bank there are structure that needs to be change and part of it is how to manage the product team more structure. My team did some brainstorming about the existing UI and try to calculate the timeline for the current design in XD which the previous designer spent 4 years to complete the design in Adobe XD. We estimated the component we have to make and the design system we have to do and we have to make sure that the majority of the components has to complete within the timeline. Two years ago Thai credit bank launched an application called “alpha” while other banks had already launched the app many years ago. Since digital eras we have to catch up with the pace so the company decided to form a product team which stayed under the IT department. We want to create the right design system for the product team to be able to collaborate.
Process
The company adopted Agile development concepts and processes to use in daily work. The processes evolved from time to time to adjust to the rush of delivery, the staffs and company culture.
